Lord, we pray for your Church, that we may greet our Lord with joy and have the courage to follow him to the cross.

Lord Jesus Christ,
the crowds acclaimed you as king
yet later called for your death;
your disciples followed you in life
yet so many of them abandoned you at the last.
Help us in our weakness to follow you on our journey through this sacred week,
that we may keep our eyes fixed on your Passion
and through it come to know the glory of the hope of the Resurrection,
which you hold out to all who follow you,
O Jesus Christ our Lord
