News: Loxbeare July Round Up 2024

It was good to be part of the Mission Community Group Service at Oakford on the 19 May, celebrating the birthday of the church at Pentecost.  It was a lovely service taken by Steph, with the Exe Valley choir taking part.  Steph gave a special thank you to our Churchwardens & PCC members for all their hard work in all the Exe Valley Churches.  Thank you to all who participated & organised the service and to Oakford for hosting the service.

Our services here at Loxbeare for July/August:

  • 7 July we are having a Songs of Praise at 6.30.
  • The 14 July will be taken by Steph at 10.15 with Calverleigh & Washfield.
  • 21 July Evening Praise at 6.30.
  • 4th August 10.45 taken by Steph & Dave, Morning Praise.
  • The 11 August we will join Washfield.
  • 18 August 10.45 Morning Praise.

There will be a PCC Meeting on the 2 July.  Our monthly prayer weekends will be the first in each month.  6/7 July & 3 /4 August.  Contact Jean on 01884881400 or Carol 01884881480 if prayer or prayer pointers needed.

Margaret has become a great-grandma for the first time to a lovely boy Ewan Thomas born in Australia in May to William & Ella, grandson to Angela & Ed.  Congratulations & best wishes to you all.  Very belated congratulations to Dawn & Mke on their engagement.  We wish you both every happiness.

Thoughts & prayers are with all who are feeling unwell & to any who have lost loved ones recently.  We give thanks for those who have had successful operations & treatments & pray for continued healing.

Happy Birthday to all with birthdays in July/August & congratulations to all celebrating special occasions.

Our soup lunch in May raised £106 for Help for Heros and June cream tea £150 for Farm Crisis Network.  The dates for July will be 13 - Ploughmans (ham or cheese) 12.30-2.00, donations for Hospiscare & August will be the tenth, cream tea for Force.  There will also be a plant bring & buy stall.  Come & join in for food and a 'natter'.  Thank you to those who help in any way & donate.

May everyone have a good summer & hope the young people taking exams will get the grades they need for their future education/jobs.

At the time of writing, we have been remembering the events of D Day & the bravery & courage of those who were a part of it.  We are so grateful for the sacrifice of the many who lost their lives.  It has been quite moving to hear the veteran's stories & all they went through & the detailed planning that went into that operation to bring us freedom.
